England has recently shown signs of improvement in their overall
underground scene. No disrespect but I always found the music
of this scene quite dull like the unpredictable British weather.
But this is about to change. Acts such as Forefather, Meads Of
Asphodel and the newly founded Goat Molestor have all got the
potential to expand further. And now in my hands falls this masterpiece
of necro grinding black metal. This is necro simply because despite
the polished sound it still sounds totally necrotic. There are
no beautiful melodies here, just ultra grinding guitar riffs
of a Marduk, Mayhem manner. But the line is drawn in the insanely
unique vocals and the drum beat which changes unpredictably from
fast paced one to some kind of a bizarre contra - tempo during
the breaks!? What I like from this act is that the music is properly
composed. The band gets original unholy inspiration in recording
these blasphemies and do not just bang their guitars creating
excessive noise and signing multiple deals just because it is
going to sell. This is a classic release, despite of it being
a collection of their first two eps, a Mayhem cover of “De
Mysteriis...” and the recently unearthed “Nercogeddon”.
It all sounds like it derives from the same album, easily one
of the best English ones in the last couple of years.
